The Beatles' second Period, the With The Beatles Period, began on 1963 February 11 when the last note of 'Twist & Shout' was recorded for for their first LP, Please Please Me.
After the session the Beatles returned to touring with Helen Shapiro as headliner. Although their new single, 'Please Please Me'/'Ask Me Why' had been released and was working its way up the UK charts, it didn't hit #1 until a week later. Their popularity was now growing.
1963 March 05: The Beatles entered the studio to record songs for their third single, 'From Me To You'/'Thank You Girl'. (Details are in the Songs of WTB book.) This 45 sat awaiting release along with their first LP as they went back on the road, now touring with Tommy Row and Chris Montez as headliners.
1963 March 22: The Beatles' first UK LP, Please Please Me, was released. It hit #1. On 63Apr11 the Beatles' third UK 45, 'From Me To You'/'Thank You Girl', was released. It hit #1.
1963 June 26: John and Paul started writing 'She Loves You'. It was recorded on 63Jul01 along with 'I'll Get You'.
1963 July 18: The Beatles started recording songs for their second UK LP, With The Beatles.
1963 August 23: The Beatles' fourth UK 45, 'She Loves You'/'I'll Get You', was released. It hit #1.
1963 September 12: The Beatles started recording the last of the songs for the new LP. A total of 15 songs were recorded when the sessions were over, 14 of which were released. Along with the four songs released on singles, this completed the 19 songs of the WTB Period.
1963 November 22: The Beatles' second UK LP, With The Beatles, was released. It hit #1.

The book starts with an overview of the Beatle Periods, showing where With The Beatles fits in their career. It then shows chronological lists of songs recorded and released during this Period.
The Releases section shows records that were released containing songs recorded during the WTB Period. Details are provided about the UK records. (Details about the US records are included in The Songs section.)
A Hearing The Music gives some orientation and history about the vinyl records and how they were intended to be heard.

Songs of The Beatles' With The Beatles Period is
a reference work designed much like a technical manual. It has
tables, graphs, and figures, but no pictures. This book was
written for serious students of the Beatles.
