This west-facing panel sits a couple hundred feet above the San Rafael river. It is painted Fremont but shows strong similarities to the Barrier Canyon Style art of the preceding Archaic culture, which featured life-sized anthropomorphs with broad shoulders and tapering torsos. The crescents may be another example of this influence as they are commonly seen in Barrier Canyon Style rock art. |
